Scott Harshbarger Honored by Citizens for Juvenile Justice
For 17 years, CfJJ has advocated for a fair and effective juvenile justice system that promotes positive outcomes for children and youth. Scott was honored in recognition of his passionate and consistent advocacy for these goals throughout his career, including: as a public defender, launching the public defender's office juvenile justice unit; chairing the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services task force for secure facilities, mitigating pressure for more draconian sentencing and treatment of juvenile offenders; as Middlesex County District Attorney, establishing a juvenile justice office that was recognized by the American Bar Association with its Livingston Hall Award; and, as Massachusetts Attorney General, launching the safe neighborhood initiative with a major focus on juvenile crime.
Scott was presented with his award on his birthday at CfJJ's 2011 Leadership Celebration, held at the Boston Bar Association and featuring keynote speaker Vincent Schiraldi, Commissioner of Probation for New York City. Proskauer has been a lead sponsor of the annual CfJJ event for five years. CfJJ is one of our pro bono community partners and several of our associates have done pro bono work for the organization.
Scott is a Senior Counsel in the Boston office whose practice focuses on strategic counsel and litigation, corporate investigations and defense, corporate and not-for-profit governance and government regulation.

Project Girl Performance at the New York Office Impresses and Inspires
Project Girl Performance Collective is a groundbreaking, girl-led organization that provides a "fearless" space for girls aged eight through 20 to write and perform their own works. Project Girl empowers girls to recognize the strength of their voices and their ability to use their voices to effect change in their communities and the world.
For the performance at the firm, the girls hand-selected a collection of their pieces that addressed issues both personal and global, and they used songs, dance and the spoken word to share their messages with us. The girls touched on important issues, such as forced child marriage, sex trafficking, family relationships, body image and more. While the girls have performed many of the pieces before, including for First Lady Michelle Obama, as part of the United Nation's Girl Up campaign and at a recent TEDx event, the girls also wrote a song just for Proskauer called "Proskauer, You've Got Girl Power." Following the performance, Jessica Morris, Executive Director of Project Girl, led a lively Q&A discussion during which attendees asked the girls about their performance pieces, their inspiration and goals.
Proskauer is a proud supporter of Project Girl Performance Collective, and the firm is excited to have hosted this well-attended event, which was presented by the Proskauer Women's Alliance and the Proskauer Alumni Network, with significant assistance from Gloria Kwan, Mary Bresnan, Audrey Tesora, Lisa Cohen, Katie Gerber, Stacey Fahey, Katharine Parker and Daryn Grossman.
