LOS ANGELES, June 20, 2023 – Leading international law firm Proskauer is pleased to announce that partner Siegmund (Sige) Gutman has been named a 2023 Client Service All-Star by BTI Consulting Group, one of fewer than 100 individuals across the country afforded the honor over several years in the category of IP and IP Litigation. Sige was recognized for advising clients on developing and executing market exclusivity and freedom-to-operate strategies and representing companies on patent matters involving a range of technologies.
As chair of the Life Sciences Patent Practice, Sige is an accomplished patent litigator who frequently represents clients before trial and appellate courts, as well as arbitration panels. With more than 25 years of industry experience, his practice focuses on patent litigation, as well as creating global patent office and FDA regulatory strategies for leading biologics, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device clients. He has extensive experience successfully litigating both biologic drug patent and Hatch-Waxman cases.
As one client noted, “Sige understands the bio pharma industry at a deeper level than anyone else I’ve dealt with. He overlays science with understanding, and expertly pulls teams together to accomplish tasks. He is good at identifying overarching themes so that his teams understand the overall goal."
Sige recently represented Amgen Inc. in a series of high-profile life science patent matters including a Biologics Price Competition & Innovation Act patent infringement action brought by Janssen Biotech, Inc., relating to Amgen’s biosimilar of Stelara® (ustekinumab).
The BTI Client Service All-Stars are determined by in-depth interviews and feedback from clients at large and Fortune 1000 organizations as part of BTI’s ongoing Annual Survey of General Counsel, now in its 22nd year.
