LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2022 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that Labor & Employment Partner Kate Gold has again been named to the Daily Journal’s 2022 Top Women Lawyers. The feature recognizes the top female California lawyers doing cutting-edge legal work in their field.
Kate was named to the annual list in 2020 and was also recognized in the Daily Journal’s Top Labor & Employment Lawyers in California 2021 list.
Kate has more than 25 years of experience representing clients in a range of industries, including entertainment, financial services, private equity and health care, across all areas of employment law. A skilled litigator, she has represented employers in class and collective actions as well as in high-profile discrimination, retaliation, harassment, non-compete and wage/hour matters.
Kate was recognized for her role in obtaining a summary judgment from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for her client, MRC Media Holdings (Billboard), dismissing sexual orientation discrimination and defamation claims. The plaintiff, an editor, claimed his termination was discriminatory when he was fired for sending sexually explicit messages to a musical artist covered by Billboard. The court dismissed this claim as well as the plaintiff’s claims that Billboard defamed him by defending the termination in the press.
