LONDON, January 3, 2023 – Proskauer private funds partner Edward Lee has been included in Venture Capital Journal’s (VCJ) annual list of 40 Rising Stars under the age of 40 in the venture capital industry.
In determining the list, VCJ looked at whether candidates accomplished something notable over the last year and evidence of leadership or influence within their own firm or the broader venture field, among other criteria.
Edward is noted for his specialty in advising fund managers and investors on a variety of topics including fund formation, co-investments, secondary transactions, carried interest arrangements and fund administration.
Edward’s work highlights from 2022 include advising Northzone on the formation of their tenth venture fund and second growth fund which attracted €1bn of total investment and is one of the biggest venture capital fundraisings in Europe in 2022; advising Blossom Capital on the formation of Blossom III, which raised over $450 million to invest in early-stage technology startups in Europe; and acting for Moonfire Ventures and Phoenix Court on various seed and early stage venture fund formations.
Over the last 12 months, Proskauer’s Private Funds Group has advised on the formation of 250+ funds and investment vehicles globally, representing $175+ billion in commitments. This includes representing 70 PE funds representing $36+ billion, 80 VC funds representing $41+ billion and 60 credit funds and vehicles representing $80+ billion. In addition, the Private Funds Group has advised on 510+ secondaries transactions for 80+ different secondary clients, with a total deal value of $72 billion, as well as 12 secondaries fund formations representing $6+ billion in the past 12 months.
