Private Equity International recently released their special 21st anniversary edition which takes a look back at the evolution of the private equity industry over the past two decades—from what some considered a cottage industry to a staple in many asset manager’s portfolios. In this edition, Proskauer Private Funds group co-heads Monica Arora, Howard Beber and Nigel van Zyl sat down with PEI to discuss the key contributing factors that yielded such success, in terms of growth in size and sophistication. All three agree that it has been the industry’s ability to innovate, and its resilience that has led the industry to where it is today and despite the current downturn, the asset class can look forward to a bright future.
