September 16, 2014 (New York) – Global law firm Proskauer served as a lead sponsor at the inaugural Euromoney Benchmark Women in Litigation Forum on September 10 in New York City. This high-level, interactive educational and networking event provided a forum to share legal insights, promote the advancement of women in litigation, and facilitate relationship building.
Proskauer lawyers Elise Bloom, Katharine Parker and Jacqueline Dorn, joined by in-house counsel from multinational corporations, participated in a panel on employment litigation. The panel discussed how to manage employment class action cases and trends in whistleblower litigation and discrimination claims. Ms. Bloom also led an interactive fishbowl-style session in which panelists and attendees networked and shared lessons-learned, helping one another to address key workplace challenges.
Proskauer’s Chantel Febus, joined by the Deputy Chief of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and a lawyer from Chadbourne & Parke, discussed government investigations and enforcement actions and Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley Whistleblower issues, among other topics.
The panelists spoke about gender inequality in the legal profession and provided advice for female lawyers seeking to advance in the legal field, as well as for law firms and corporations looking to increase their commitment to gender diversity.
The event, led by high-profile women from top companies and leading law firms, featured a keynote address by the Hon. Loretta A. Preska, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
