March 12, 2018 (NEW YORK) – Pro bono partner Bill Silverman and corporate social responsibility manager Wendy Dessy launched the Proskauer Lawyering for Social Justice lunch series at John Jay College of Criminal Justice on February 28.
This series of educational workshops engages a group of John Jay students in an interactive discussion about the substantive role of lawyers in providing pro bono service in areas important to social justice such as immigration, criminal justice, human trafficking and education. The students are presented with the unique opportunity to explore the ethical and professional complexities that arise from working at the intersection of social justice and corporate practice. Forty students attended the workshop along with leaders of the college.
The program also discusses public service outside of the field of law.
Proskauer’s support of community-based programs is part of our Firm’s larger effort to further the advancement of education for some of society’s most vulnerable populations.
