New York, June 23, 2020 – Proskauer is saddened by the passing of Shirley Adelson Siegel, the first female attorney to join the Firm after graduating from Yale Law School in 1941 and from Barnard College in 1937. After beginning her legal career at Proskauer, Shirley went on to found the New York State Civil Rights Bureau, serve as General Counsel of the New York Housing Development Corporation, and rose to become Solicitor General of the State of New York. Shirley’s legacy will continue to inspire us all and she will be dearly missed.
