March 30, 2000 (New York, NY) - In a strategic move that will further enhance its prominence in the entertainment industry, Proskauer Rose LLP announced today that ten attorneys from McCambridge, Deixler and Marmaro LLP ("MDM") will join the firm's Los Angeles office April 1. MDM brings an outstanding array of clients, including record labels (Elektra Entertainment, Elemental Records, and ANTRA Records); motion picture, video, cable, and television companies (USA Networks, NBC, Artisan Entertainment Inc., and Mega Entertainment Inc.); and recording artists (Beck, Black Crowes, Counting Crows, Don McLean, Dr. Dre, Goo Goo Dolls, Smashing Pumpkins, and Snoop Doggy Dogg). The group also represents businesses and individuals in federal and state criminal and administrative matters, including investigations, trials and appeals.
Proskauer has been adding significant depth to its well-established entertainment, new media, and intellectual property practices. Last May, the firm welcomed veteran music industry litigator Charles Ortner and his five partner litigation team, formerly of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker. Ortner's group brought premier clients that included Madonna, Lauryn Hill, Shania Twain, Trent Reznor / Nine Inch Nails, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, BMG Entertainment, Interscope, Universal, EMI, and The Zomba Group.

They also represent clients, including broker-dealers, in matters before self-regulatory agencies like the New York Stock Exchange, the National Association of Securities Dealers, and the Chicago Board of Options Exchange. - Bert Deixler--Well known in entertainment industry circles for his representation of record companies and recording artists, Deixler's litigation practice encompasses work for financial, securities and real estate companies.
- Richard Marmaro--Marmaro's reputation of defending companies and individuals in administrative investigations in the securities industry and in white collar criminal cases is stellar. Over the last 20 years, he has tried numerous cases in federal and state court nationwide, and has represented executives and managers of several Fortune 500 companies in securities-related administrative matters, and in criminal investigations.
- Lary Rappaport--Rappaport's varied litigation practice includes the representation of professionals, record companies and recording artists in commercial disputes and the representation of insurance companies as plaintiffs against health care providers, lawyers and others who engage in systemic insurance fraud.
- Michael Firestein--Firestein handles a wide range of commercial litigation on behalf of financial institutions, securities brokerages and real estate operating companies, as well as entertainment litigation.
