May 5, 2009 (Boca Raton, FL) - Albert W. Gortz, the head of the Boca Raton office of international law firm Proskauer Rose LLP, was presented with the Jim Nobil Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County at the Federation's annual meeting.
The award recognizes lifetime achievement and contributions to the Federation, which dedicates itself to furthering the welfare of Jews in Florida, Israel and more than 60 countries around the world with programs that provide food, safety and a strong sense of connection to the Jewish heritage for both donors and beneficiaries.
In addition to serving as an officer and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Federation, Mr. Gortz is active in a range of charitable activities that include serving as Vice President of the Board of the American Jewish Committee and on the board of the Jewish Community Foundation. A graduate of Yale Law School and Williams College, he joined Proskauer directly upon graduation from Yale and has been head of the firm's Florida office since it was established in 1977. He served two terms as a member of Proskauer's seven-person Executive Committee and was the first member of the committee to be based outside of New York.
Mr. Gortz focuses his practice on the representation of high net worth individuals and families. He is widely regarded as one of Florida's preeminent trust and estates lawyers and has been named by Chambers USA as one of the top estate planning lawyers in the state and one of the leading wealth management lawyers in the eastern region of the country.
