June 15, 2018 (NEW YORK) - The New York Law Journal’s Professional Excellence Awards named the Firm’s litigation team as a finalist for Litigation Department of the Year, Kathleen McKenna as a Distinguished Leader, and Howard Ganz received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to lawyers who have had profound impacts on the legal community and the law itself throughout their career. Howard’s legacy was recognized because of his integral role in the evolution of the NBA as its principal outside labor counsel for more than 40 years, and his work as outside labor counsel for the MLB since 1999. Howard’s work shaped not only the legal history of sports law, but the state of modern American sports today.
Kathleen’s selection as a Distinguished Leader was due in large part to her results for clients, strong leadership, and reputation in employment litigation. In particular, Kathleen’s work in crafting inclusive corporate environments and guiding organizations through the #MeToo movement set her apart as a leader in both litigation and corporate culture.
Proskauer’s Litigation Department was selected as a finalist for Litigation Department of the Year in recognition of its outstanding work on behalf of several prominent clients, including the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico, The Metropolitan Opera, T-Mobile, Island Records, Madonna & Warner Brothers, and Henry Schein, Inc. The team’s history of cultivating longstanding client relationships and delicacy in dealing with high-profile clients were factors as well.
The New York Law Journal’s Professional Excellence Awards honor attorneys with both impressive legal results and leadership skills. Proskauer’s Litigation Department, Kathleen and Howard will be profiled in the New York Law Journal’s upcoming Professional Excellence magazine and honored at the New York Legal awards in October.
