NEW YORK, May 12, 2022 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, is delighted to announce that partner Brad Ruskin, co-chair of the Firm’s Sports Law Group and an Executive Committee member, was honored by The Legal Aid Society with its Servant of Justice Award, presented at the organization’s 45th annual dinner on May 12. Brad was recognized for his distinguished work in the legal world and his extensive volunteer service.
“Every day, The Legal Aid Society’s expert teams work tirelessly in and out of the courtroom to defend and advocate for their clients so they can succeed in New York City. I am honored and humbled to be recognized by The Legal Aid Society and am committed to continue my work with the Society to help ensure our vulnerable communities have equal access to justice,” said Brad.
Brad started volunteering with The Legal Aid Society at the start of his career, successfully taking on a disability matter as a first-year associate and serving as chair of the citywide Associates’ Campaign to raise money from all law firms across the city. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Director of The Legal Aid Society.
A preeminent litigator and trial lawyer, Brad’s practice has spanned a wide variety of high-stakes commercial cases, representing clients such as Major League Soccer, the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, ATP Tour, WTA Tour, the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, multiple professional teams, the Big East, the PAC-12, T-Mobile, Wharton Properties, Tech Mahindra, Schein, and Madonna.
In addition to his decades-long legal career, Brad has long been involved in a wide array of public service activities. He currently serves as a Director and Audit Committee Chair of the Student Leadership Network (and was a recipient of its “The Man We Love” Award), a member of the ADL Sports Leadership Council, a board member of Sports for Youth, and a member of the Jewish Theological Society’s Advisory Board (and recipient of its Simon Rifkind Award).
Founded in 1876, The Legal Aid Society is a private, not-for-profit legal services organization. It is the oldest and largest provider of legal aid in the U.S. The Legal Aid Society is more than a law firm for low-income New Yorkers. It is an indispensable component of the legal, social, and economic fabric of New York City — passionately advocating for individuals and families across a variety of civil, criminal defense, and juvenile rights matters, while also fighting for legal reform.
