Junghoon is a technology specialist in the Litigation Department and a member of the Life Sciences Patent practice. He works with life science and pharmaceutical clients on domestic and foreign patent preparation, prosecution, patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
Junghoon has scientific expertise in cholesterol metabolism and nanoparticle-based drug delivery for neurodegenerative diseases. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Dartmouth College, where he developed stealth liposome formulations to deliver small-molecule ACAT1 inhibitors across the blood-brain barrier for the treatment of Niemann-Pick Type C and Alzheimer’s disease.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Junghoon earned his M.S. and B.S. in Biology from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea, where he conducted research on blood-circulating microRNAs as potential diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in Alzheimer’s disease.
