LONDON, October 5, 2026 – Proskauer announced today that Julio Castro has joined the Firm as a Tax partner in its London office. Julio expands Proskauer’s Tax Group and enhances the Firm’s private funds tax capabilities.
Julio advises private investment fund sponsors on the U.S. tax aspects of the full lifecycle of funds, from fund formation and continuation vehicles to buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, including structuring, financing, and vendor due diligence matters. Julio counsels founding partners and senior management teams on strategic matters, including GP stake sales and the structuring of carried-interest arrangements, and represents large institutional and sovereign limited partners on investments across a broad range of fund platforms. Julio also brings significant experience advising on the tax aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions and the design of related holding and financing structures. He also advises Latin American clients on U.S. international tax matters, including US fund raising, IPOs, expansions and restructurings.
“Client demand for sophisticated, cross-border tax advice continues to grow,” said Proskauer’s Chairman, Tim Mungovan. “Julio brings deep experience advising clients on complex fund formations and strategic transactions, helping clients navigate the tax considerations that are critical to achieving their objectives. He will be a great addition to our team.”
“Julio offers the technical excellence, commercial judgment, and practical insight that our clients value,” said Amanda Nussbaum, Chair of Proskauer's Tax Department. “He will play a critical role in supporting the increasing volume and sophistication of our European private funds work. We are delighted to welcome him to the partnership.”
“We have continued to invest strategically in our global Private Funds platform so we can work alongside our clients as their needs evolve,” said Nigel van Zyl, co-head of Proskauer's Private Funds Group. “As fundraising strategies become more bespoke and GP-led transaction activity increases, demand for seamless U.S. tax advice in Europe has never been greater. Julio adds depth to an already market-leading team and further differentiates our ability to deliver integrated solutions to sponsors and investors around the world.”
“Proskauer has an outstanding reputation for advising many of the world’s leading private capital sponsors on their most complex and innovative matters,” Julio Castro said. “As clients continue to operate in an increasingly dynamic environment, I am eager to help them address their U.S. tax and transactional needs, and to contribute to the continued growth of the practice globally.”
Julio joins Proskauer during a period of strong momentum for the Firm’s London office. Since 2025, the Firm has added 14 partners in London across Tax, Private Funds, Global Finance, Private Equity M&A, and Litigation.
