Julio Castro is a partner in the Tax Department and a member of the Private Funds Group.
Julio advises asset managers and fund sponsors, including private equity, credit and secondaries managers, on a broad range of U.S. tax matters, from fund formation and structuring through NAV financings and continuation fund transactions. He also advises buy-out funds on the tax aspects of buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, including transaction structuring, and financing.
Julio has particular experience advising on the structuring of U.S. credit transactions and platforms, GP-led and other secondary transactions. He also advises founding partners and senior management teams on GP stake deals and the structuring of carried interest arrangements.
In addition, Julio represents large institutional and sovereign investors in connection with investments across a range of fund strategies and platforms.
Finally, Julio advises non-U.S. multinationals (including a number of Latin American companies) on U.S. international tax matters, including M&A, U.S. fund raising and financing, IPOs, expansions, restructurings, and intellectual property matters.
