The House of Representatives is set to vote on the American Rescue Plan Act.  Included in the stimulus bill are several key provisions that affect employee benefits. Two very notable provisions relate to six (6) months of COBRA subsidies and defined benefit pension plan relief.

• The bill includes provisions that will impact COBRA subsidies. Paul Hamburger, Robert Projansky and Roberta Chevlowe can address the impact of the COBRA stimulus on employers and plans – who is eligible, notices that have to be provided and what types of administrative issues arise.
• The legislation also includes changes to pension plans. Ira Golub, Robert Projansky and Justin Alex can speak to the impact of the special rescue funding provided to multi-employer pension plans.
