NEW YORK, April 15, 2024 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, is pleased to share that Tax partner Amanda Nussbaum and Litigation partner Lee Popkin have been shortlisted in Euromoney’s 2024 Women in Business Law, Americas Awards. Amanda has been named a finalist for Tax and Thought Leadership Lawyer of the Year and Lee is nominated for Product Liability Lawyer of the Year.
As chair of Proskauer’s Tax Department and co-head of its Not-For-Profit Group, Amanda concentrates on planning for and the structuring of domestic and international private investment funds, as well as advising those funds on investment activities and operational issues. She has significant experience structuring taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions and stock and debt offerings, and also counseling both sports teams and sports leagues on a broad range of tax issues. As the former chair of Proskauer’s Evaluation Committee and former member of the Hiring Committee, Amanda has played a leading role in the recruitment, mentoring, retention and promotion of the Firm’s women lawyers. She currently champions diverse associates through the Firm’s Pipeline Initiative and Mentoring Circle Program.
Lee, who serves as co-head of Proskauer’s Product Liability Group, is an established trial lawyer who protects the reputations of major consumer brands in the courtroom. She has extensive experience handling complex “bet-the company” cases across a wide range of industries in state and federal courts throughout the country. Most recently, Lee helped to secure wins for Monsanto in cases brought by plaintiffs claiming that the herbicide Roundup caused them to develop non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Outside of the courtroom, Lee is deeply involved in the development and training of women lawyers at Proskauer. She is a sponsor in the Firm’s Pipeline Initiative and a leader of multiple skills-based training programs. This is the second year in a row that Lee is shortlisted for Product Liability Lawyer of the Year.
Euromoney’s Women in Business Law Awards set out to recognize leading women for their contributions to the practice of business law along with firms that have developed progressive initiatives towards diversity and inclusion. Euromoney will announce the winners on June 13, 2024.
