Matthew Rosenthal is an associate in the Labor & Employment Law Department and a member of the Employment Litigation & Arbitration Group.
Matt represents employers in a broad range of employment matters, with a focus on litigating claims involving discrimination, retaliation, wage-and-hour issues, and the enforcement of restrictive covenants. He has experience representing clients in federal and state courts, as well as arbitration, in both single-plaintiff matters and complex class and collective actions.
During his time at Proskauer, Matt has worked extensively on matters involving professional sports. In addition to his work as outside counsel to several major leagues, he completed a multi-month secondment with the National Basketball Association, where he gained first-hand insight and a detailed understanding of the league’s operations.
Matt also has extensive experience with drafting employment-related arbitration agreements and counseling clients regarding the rollout of arbitration policies, including compliance with state-specific requirements, multi-jurisdictional considerations, and tailoring agreements to meet clients’ needs.
His practice spans a range of industries, including professional sports, media and entertainment, financial services, higher education, and religious institutions.
Matt earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he served as a Teaching Assistant for “Sports and the Law,” and was a member of the Harvard Journal of Sports & Entertainment Law and the Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law. During law school, he held legal internships with the National Football League, National Basketball Association, and Boston Celtics.
Prior to joining Proskauer, Matt clerked for the Honorable Philip M. Halpern of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
