John A. Beck

John A. Beck is a partner in the Corporate Department and a member of the Private Funds Group. John’s practice focuses on advising private investment fund sponsors and investment advisers on the formation, structuring, negotiation and operation of private investment funds across all aspects of the fund-raising process, including complex and multi-billion-dollar fundraises. In addition, John regularly advises fund sponsors on governance, regulatory and operational matters, including management company structuring and sponsor economics.

John advises clients ranging from emerging managers to some of the world’s largest asset managers across a wide range of strategies, including venture capital, growth equity, buyout, credit, real estate, sports and entertainment, co-investments, secondaries and fund-of-funds.

John has significant experience advising sponsors, institutional investors, family offices, endowments and fund-of-funds on all aspects of the acquisition and disposition of private investment fund interests in the U.S. and abroad, both on a primary basis and in connection with portfolio sales and other traditional and non-traditional secondary, preferred equity, GP-led and continuation vehicle transactions, and other structured liquidity solutions.

His recent experience includes advising on significant fundraises and GP-led secondary and continuation vehicle transactions for leading global sponsors.

Representative clients include Adams Street Partners, Ares Management, Capital Dynamics, Cloud Apps Capital Partners, Five Points Capital, Flying Fish Ventures, Pantheon Ventures, Thrive Capital, Spectrum Equity and Top Tier Capital Partners.

Prior to joining Proskauer, John earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2016.
