Former NFL Executive Vice President and General Counsel Brings Decades of Experience Advising Organizations on Complex Litigation, Antitrust, Labor, and Strategic Matters
NEW YORK, July 30, 2026 – Proskauer announced today that Jeff Pash has joined the Firm as a partner in its Sports Group in New York. One of the country's most respected sports lawyers, Jeff joins Proskauer after nearly three decades as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the National Football League, where he advised league leadership on many of the organization's most significant legal, collective bargaining, business, and governance matters. He previously served as General Counsel of the National Hockey League, giving him a unique perspective across two of North America’s major professional sports leagues.
“Jeff has had an incredible career advising two of the most successful business enterprises in American sports,” said Tim Mungovan, Proskauer’s Chairman. “His tenure as General Counsel of both the NFL and NHL makes his legal career in sports virtually unmatched. He will be an extraordinary resource for our clients and for our lawyers, and I look forward to working closely with him and relying on his counsel as we build for the future.”
Jeff served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the NFL from 1997 to 2025, overseeing antitrust and other litigation matters, complex investigations, labor relations, the development of the NFL’s private equity and debt rules, and the evolving legal and commercial issues facing professional sports organizations. Before joining the NFL, he was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the National Hockey League, where he served as the senior legal and policy advisor to the commissioner on league governance, disputes and strategic initiatives.
“Jeff has earned the trust of some of the most prominent organizations in professional sports through decades of thoughtful counsel on their most significant legal and business matters," said Bart Williams, Chair of Proskauer's Litigation Department. "He brings exceptional judgment, a deep understanding of the issues our clients face, and an approach that aligns with how we serve our clients. We are pleased to welcome him to the Firm.”
Jeff’s experience builds on Proskauer's long-standing leadership advising the sports industry, adding further depth to the Firm's counsel on antitrust, complex litigation, labor relations, private capital and other strategic issues at the intersection of law, business and sports.
“I've known and worked closely with Proskauer lawyers for decades and have deep respect for the Firm and its Sports Group,” said Jeff. “Proskauer's leading sports practice combines with strong capabilities across the range of issues I've worked on throughout my career. I'm excited to work with the Firm's broad client base and outstanding roster of attorneys and look forward to contributing to the growth of this dynamic practice.”
