NEW YORK, February 25, 2026 – Proskauer is pleased to share that Pro Bono partner William C. Silverman has been honored with the Ninth Annual James Duane Award, which recognizes individuals who have rendered exemplary service to the Southern District of New York (SDNY).
At a ceremony on February 19th in New York City, Bill was recognized for his participation in the RISE program (Reentry through Intensive Supervision and Employment) and for spearheading a related pro bono program that assists individuals on supervised release in successfully reentering society. The RISE Court is a special court of the SDNY dedicated to supporting men and women on supervised release who are considered at highest risk of recidivism. The court promotes successful reentry through initiatives that encourage self-awareness and employment.
Bill is responsible for leading Proskauer’s global pro bono efforts, which provide assistance to individual clients and nonprofit organizations in litigation and transactional matters. He focuses on identifying and securing pro bono opportunities and partnerships for Proskauer lawyers and ensuring widespread participation in these projects.
Presented by the Bench and Bar of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the James Duane Award is named after the first judge to sit in the District of New York.
