Erin Marie Meyer works with William Silverman, the Firm’s pro bono partner, in managing Proskauer’s global pro bono program, which provides assistance to individual clients and nonprofit organizations in litigation and transactional matters. Erin creates new pro bono opportunities for Proskauer lawyers through working with a diverse network of legal services and nonprofit organizations. She also provides practice support and supervision to lawyers handling a variety of pro bono projects, and maintains her own case load of pro bono litigation matters.
Prior to joining Proskauer, Erin was a senior associate at a large international law firm where her practice focused on complex commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate level. Throughout her career, she demonstrated a strong commitment to pro bono work, particularly in the areas of LGBT and women’s civil rights. In addition to serving a term as the pro bono associate in the New York office of her prior firm, Erin handled a number of successful pro bono matters for survivors of domestic violence, refugees, and low-income tenants and LGBT individuals. As an affiliated attorney at Lambda Legal, Erin worked with the Transgender Rights Project Director on impact litigation cases in support of transgender civil rights. She was also one of the lead authors of Creating Equal Access to Quality Health Care for Transgender Patients: Transgender-Affirming Hospital Policies, a first-of-its-kind publication designed to guide hospitals in complying with legal and regulatory mandates and adopting best practices for the care of transgender patients. As co-counsel with the National Center for Law and Economic Justice and Natural Resources Defense Council, Erin represents New York City public housing tenants suffering from asthma in a class action litigation seeking to compel the New York City Housing Authority to remediate mold and excessive moisture in the tenants’ apartments.
For her dedication to pro bono legal service and her role in managing her prior firm’s New York pro bono practice, Erin was recognized by Legal Services New York City as a Top 30 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year (2014).
