Courtland Cuevas is an associate in the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on complex civil and commercial litigation, including antitrust, intellectual property, false advertising, privacy, and internal investigations. He has represented clients across a range of industries, including professional sports, entertainment, technology, consumer products, employment, real estate, and agriculture.
Courtland has represented clients at all stages of litigation, from pleadings through discovery and trial. Most recently, he served on the trial team representing Meta Platforms, Inc. in a high-stakes employment dispute brought by a former employee. After more than 50 days of trial, a San Francisco Superior Court jury deliberated for less than a day before returning a complete defense verdict in Meta’s favor.
Courtland also maintains an active pro bono practice, including work with the Innocence Project. In 2026, he received a Proskauer Golden Gavel Award for his work on a team that helped secure parole for a client who had served more than two decades in prison.
Courtland earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law and his B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team that won the 2020 Big Ten Championship.
During law school, Courtland served as a Dialectic Editor of the UCLA Law Review and as president of the UCLA Sports Law Association. He also completed legal internships with Creative Artists Agency, UCLA Athletics, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Before attending law school, Courtland worked as a producer at ESPN Madison and interned with the NBA League Office. He also served as a law clerk for Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.
Courtland remains active in the community. He serves on the board of the Arcitec Foundation, a nonprofit founded by former NBA player Alando Tucker that offers youth programming integrating athletics with business and educational development. He has also spoken at the University of Wisconsin School of Business about how lessons from athletics translate into disciplined preparation, effective teamwork, and poise under pressure in high-stakes litigation.
