Proskauer

Ali Latash is a law clerk in the Litigation Department. His practice involves complex commercial disputes, antitrust matters, government and internal investigations, and white-collar defense. His experience spans various stages of litigation, including discovery, motion practice and pretrial preparation, with a focus on matters involving companies in the life sciences, agriculture and other highly regulated industries.

Ali also maintains an active pro bono practice, including work with the Innocence Project and Ramapo for Children.

Ali previously served as a lawyer at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in its Corporate Governance Enforcement and Corporate Finance departments. At ASIC, he investigated and litigated matters involving anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, foreign bribery, corporate governance and capital-raising misconduct.

Before joining Proskauer, Ali completed his Ph.D. research in international law at the University of Sydney Law School. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting doctoral researcher at Harvard Law School. While at Harvard, he was appointed a visiting fellow in the Program on Law and Political Economy and served as a teaching assistant for Professor Cass Sunstein’s course, Law, Politics and Policy of Social Change. He was also an editor of the Harvard Human Rights Journal and a clinical affiliate with the Harvard Human Rights Entrepreneurs Clinic, where he worked with students and organizations on cross-border strategic litigation.

Ali has taught international law, human rights law, administrative law and public law as a lecturer at the University of Sydney, the University of Wollongong and Deakin University.

Ali earned his LL.B. with Honours from Deakin University and his LL.M. from the University of Sydney. His Ph.D. will be awarded in 2026. During his studies, Ali received several academic awards and scholarships, including the Walter Reid Memorial Prize II, the University of Sydney Postgraduate Award, the Walter Reid Scholarship and the William and Catherine McIlrath Scholarship.
