April 19, 2013 (Boston) – In a just-released survey by Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst, Proskauer tops the list of the most active law firms in investment funds in 2012. The survey ranks Proskauer No. 1 as measured by the number of funds closed on behalf of sponsors and second by total funds closed on behalf of sponsors and institutional investors.
Proskauer secured the top spot in investment fund closings on behalf of sponsors by representing 158 general partners. It ranked second in total funds closed on behalf of sponsors and institutional investors, advising on more than 430 transactions – a 27 percent increase over 2011. This is the eighth consecutive year that Proskauer has been ranked among the top six firms in fund formation.
Fund work that helped place Proskauer at the top of the rankings include advising New Enterprise Associates in structuring New Enterprise Associates XIV LP fund with $2.6 billion in commitments and representing a global financial institution in structuring funds with total aggregate commitments exceeding $4 billion.
“Despite the uncertainty and volatility that has prevailed in recent years, we saw robust market activity in U.S. fund closings last year,” said Proskauer Partner Robin A. Painter, Co-Chair of the firm’s Corporate Department and co-head of the Private Investment Funds Group. “Our clients have strong track records and were well positioned to seize asset growth.”
Proskauer’s Private Investment Funds Group is one of the best and most widely recognized in the world – a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of lawyers that offers a complete package of services from structuring funds of all types, to investor representation and secondary purchases and sales transactions.
