November 20, 2017 (New York) – International law firm Proskauer has announced its collaboration with the Blockchain for Social Impact Coalition (BSIC) to provide pro bono assistance to BSIC members – companies that are using blockchain to tackle social causes around the world.
“We recognize the power that blockchain offers to achieve important results and improve people’s lives,” says partner Jeff Neuburger, co-chair of the Firm’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications Group. “BSIC members are using blockchain to develop innovative solutions to complex issues such as sustainability and conservation in the developing world, which adds the dimension of doing good that is a part of our Firm’s culture.”
The BSIC is an initiative of ConsenSys, a venture production studio that specializes in blockchain projects. The Firm will be taking on pro bono projects for BSIC members on a case-by-case basis.
“Facilitating the use of new technology to address serious challenges in our society and to help those less fortunate is a critical part of our pro bono practice,” says pro bono partner Bill Silverman. “We are thrilled to get started on this project.”
Proskauer’s Blockchain Group leverages the Firm’s cross-industry expertise to help clients harness blockchain’s potential and take advantage of this emerging business technology. The Firm’s extensive pro bono program enables its lawyers to make a broad impact through a variety of projects, ranging from high-impact litigation and complex transactions for not-for-profit organizations to matters for low-income individuals seeking equal access to justice.
