February 25, 2019 (WASHINGTON D.C.) – International law firm Proskauer is pleased to announce corporate partner Karen Garnett’s appointment to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC). FASAC serves as the primary external advisor to the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), which is responsible for establishing U.S. GAAP. The Council provides an important sounding board to help the FASB understand what constituents are thinking about a wide range of issues.
FASB Chairman Russell G. Golden commented, “Ms. Garnett’s expertise in SEC and regulatory matters under the federal securities laws will enhance the robust input the FASAC provides to the FASB.” Karen added, “I am honored by this appointment and thrilled to be joining the Council. I look forward to working with the other FASAC members and engaging with the FASB on its agenda and relevant policy matters.”
As a member of Proskauer's Capital Markets Group, Karen’s practice focuses on regulatory matters under the federal securities laws, equity finance transactions and public company advisory services. Karen joined the Firm in 2018 following almost 24 years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she served in various capacities, most recently as a senior officer in the Division of Corporation Finance.
