May 31, 2017 (NEW YORK) – Proskauer’s Asian Lawyer Affinity Group (ALAG) presented a conversation on Pachinko, a bestselling novel, featuring author and former lawyer Min Jin Lee. Pachinko tells the story of loyalty, love and sacrifice through the eyes of an impoverished Korean family in 20th century Japan.
In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Min shed light on the Korean-Japanese story – an immigrant community that has faced challenges for generations. In addition, Min discussed her transition from lawyer to writer, as well as her 11 year process of drafting, revising and refining her manuscript before publication.
Proskauer’s Asian Lawyer Affinity Group serves as a Firm resource to promote the recruitment, retention and advancement of Asian Pacific American (APA) lawyers. The group provides opportunities for visibility and leadership of its members in all aspects of the Firm’s practice and management as well as in the APA legal community.
Jennifer Yang, co-chair of ALAG, gave opening remarks and Tiffany Woo moderated the discussion.
