October 26, 2018 (BOSTON) – Will Dalsen and Jim Anderson are being honored by Sanctuary for Families with the 2018 Above & Beyond Pro Bono Achievement Award. Each year, Sanctuary for Families nominates a small number of pro bono teams that have gone “above and beyond” in their pro bono work on behalf of victims of gender-based violence.
Will and Jim are being honored this year for their representation of 12 amici who sought to persuade the Second Circuit it should not return a child to his abusive father. The amici argued that the father’s pattern of domestic violence against the child’s mother supported a finding the child was subject to a grave risk of harm to the child. Will and Jim marshaled social science research and the amici’s extensive experience to educate the court about the harmful effects of pre- and post-separation power dynamics on children.
Will practices commercial litigation and Jim focuses on intellectual property litigation. Both are associates in the Firm’s Boston office.
