NEW YORK, June 17, 2020 – The Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) has recognized partner Betsy Plevan among three outstanding leaders who will come together for a special conversation about pro bono during a time of urgent community response to the COVID-19 pandemic and protests against racial injustice.
Betsy has a distinguished record of public service, including a term as president of the New York City Bar, and is a vital part of the Firm’s pro bono efforts. The public interest staff attorneys at VOLS work alongside 1,000+ pro bono lawyers and collaborate with 200+ community-based groups to address critical legal challenges for people of limited means in various underserved communities.
Betsy and her fellow recipients will be honored by Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) during their virtual gala where she will take part in conversation entitled, “Recognizing Women’s Leadership in Pro Bono” on June 24th at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Last year, Proskauer was honored with the organization’s “Founders Award” during VLA’s anniversary gala. Over the past 50 years, several Proskauer lawyers have served on the VLA board, and the Firm has undertaken countless pro bono matters through the organization. These matters are among the most popular pro bono assignments at the Firm today.
