Brian D.  Huber

Brian Huber is a senior counsel in the Tax Department and a member of the Private Funds Group.

Brian’s primary focus is tax planning for a broad range of private fund clients. He advises private equity fund managers on tax aspects of fund-raising and internal organizational matters, as well as investment activities. In addition, Brian represents U.S. and non-U.S. investors in connection with the tax and economic aspects of their investments in venture capital funds, buyout funds, hedge funds and other investment partnerships.

Brian regularly advises on international tax issues that arise in connection with investments in the U.S. by non-U.S. investors (including non-U.S. investors subject to special U.S. tax treatment, such as foreign governments, pension plans and tax-exempt organizations), as well as investments outside of the U.S. by U.S. persons. He also has significant experience advising clients on tax aspects associated with secondary purchases and sales.

Brian’s focuses his pro bono work on seeking affirmative and defensive asylum for immigrants fearing return to their home countries.

As co-chair of the Firm’s LGBT Affinity Group, Brian has hosted and spoken on panels dealing with LGBTQ rights and representation. Brian also formerly served on Proskauer’s Associates Council. Outside of the office, Brian sits on the board of directors for the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association and has participated as a delegate at the National LGBT Bar Association’s Affiliates Congress Annual Meeting.
