Amir Naini is a senior counsel in the Litigation Department and a member of the Patent Law Group. He represents life sciences and high technology clients in patent-related litigation, transactions and strategic counseling. He also has extensive experience in inter-partes review proceedings. Amir has advised clients on matters involving a variety of technologies, including biologic and small molecule drugs, antibody- and DNA-based diagnostics, medical imaging, software, polymers, and semiconductors.
Amir has been selected as a Southern California “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2014.
Amir received his B.A. in biochemistry from Swarthmore College, and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Brandeis University. His doctoral research focused on the structure and function of ion channels, the proteins that mediate cellular electrical properties. His postdoctoral research at Stanford involved studying the detailed molecular mechanisms by which protein kinases transduce and record nerve cell activity. Prior to law school, Amir was a patent agent for a genomics company.
