November 17, 2020 (New York) – Diwali, commonly referred to as the “festival of lights,” is generally celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs across the world during a five day celebration. Proskauer associate Hena Vora shared her heritage and expertise with the Firm on Friday, November 13, the second day of Diwali, leading the Proskauer community in a virtual BollyX workout and sharing insights about Diwali and the Bollywood style of dance.
“This year, perhaps more than ever before, we can truly the feel the significance in the values of Diwali: the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. That’s why I was so excited to share BollyX Fitness with my Proskauer family. It’s a great way to enjoy the excitement, enthusiasm, and joy of Diwali together,” Hena said.
Hena described BollyX as a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with upbeat Bollywood music. The program’s cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences. At the core of a BollyX workout is the inspiration it draws from the music and dance of Bollywood, the film industry of India. Embodying the infectious energy and expression of Bollywood, the workout program aims to expand the reach of fitness.
Proskauer colleagues across the Firm shared positive sentiments about their experience.
New York associate director of professional resources Racheal Brusca said, “I learned that BollyX takes an extraordinary amount of coordination to look good doing it, but much less is required to have an absolute blast with your colleagues! This event was such a fun and unique way to come together and learn more about Diwali and celebrate the triumph of light over darkness. To steal a line from Hena, her BollyX class was ‘First Class’ all the way!”
New York pro bono counsel Erin Meyer expressed her gratitude to Hena for sharing her talent with the Firm. She said, “I’ve been enjoying Hena’s BollyX classes since I first learned of BollyX during Proskauer’s Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebrations earlier this year. It has definitely brought me stress relief and a fun way to exercise while quarantining at home for the past several months!”
Special thanks to Hena Vora, ALAG and Proskauer’s Diversity + Inclusion team for organizing this event.
Happy Diwali!
