On April 23, 2004, the United States Department of Labor published long-awaited final regulations defining the executive, administrative, professional, outside sales, and computer professional exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act. These final regulations will become effective on August 23, 2004, and are designed to modernize and update the "white collar" exemptions to the overtime rules.
