Description:
Proskauer's Labor & Employment Department Presents: Best Practices in Cross-Border Employment Law and Human Resources
This program will explore a hot trend among multinationals: Managing human resources globally, in order to: streamline employment operations, introduce efficiencies, minimize costs, reduce legal risks, ensure compliance, and propagate a consistent corporate culture worldwide.
You will learn what steps you can be taking to globalize your HR operations, make them more efficient around the world, and ensure compliance with complex labor laws overseas. You will learn cutting-edge strategies that work for other companies. The program will explore:
- Why and how multinationals are streamlining and overseeing their global workforces
- What's "hot" - trends in global employment laws and human resources issues
- Cost-effective compliance with laws, codes of conduct, and ethics rules in worldwide workforces
- "One size fits all" vs. "all HR is local": practical tips on striking a balance
- How developments in the European Union ("works councils," discrimination, data privacy) affect multinational organizations
- Case studies on a variety of issues including "offshoring" and international outsourcing; multi-country reductions-in-force and restructurings; data privacy; expatriate policies; unions/works councils in the cross-border environment; "sweatshops" and human rights; global diversity and equal employment opportunity initiatives.
Who should attend: Senior human resources and benefits/compensation professionals at multinational corporations; in-house counsel with responsibilities for employment law outside the U.S.; compliance and privacy officers at multinationals; executives with responsibilities for global M&A, restructurings, reductions-in-force, and “offshoring.”
Program Speakers Include: Michael J. Album, Yasmine Tarasewicz and Donald C. Dowling, Jr.
