Montaye Sigmon is an Associate in the Litigation Department, resident in the Los Angeles office. Montaye handles a broad range of complex civil litigation matters before federal and state courts and various arbitration forums. She has litigated disputes involving fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, unfair business practices, copyright, and trademark infringement, and insurance coverage issues.

Representative engagements include:

  • Private equity company in connection with the recovery of an investment based on misrepresentations made during the due diligence process
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturer in an arbitration concerning a breach of asset purchase agreement
  • Operator of missile and rocket propulsion manufacturer in litigation involving toxic tort claims
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturer in connection with shareholder class actions concerning its acquisition of a biotech company
  • Insurance company in litigation involving civil RICO, Sherman Act, and Cartwright Act claims

Montaye also is involved in pro bono projects, such as authoring part of an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court in the District of Columbia v. Heller case in which the District’s ban on handguns was challenged.
