Matthew Triggs is a Partner in the Litigation Department and head of that practice in Florida. He is also a member of the firm’s Fiduciary Litigation and Financial Services Groups and has a broad-based commercial litigation practice, representing clients in a wide variety of matters.

Matt has a particular focus on fiduciary and probate litigation, having represented both corporate and individual fiduciaries in a wide variety of probate and trust disputes. He also represents financial institutions in a broad range of commercial matters ranging from contested receivership hearings and contract disputes to commercial foreclosures and FINRA arbitrations. Matt also defends officers and directors in shareholder derivative actions and corporations in suits alleging claims of breach of fiduciary duty and fraud. He recently won summary judgment on behalf of a financial institution, successfully defeating a claim for damages in excess of $100 million. An experienced courtroom lawyer, Matt recently was successful in appointing a receiver for a Palm Beach hotel, following a lengthy evidentiary hearing and winning a motion for judgment as a matter of law in a jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.  

Matt is actively involved in the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, where he is a member of its Probate Litigation Committee, and he is a co-author of the Rules Corner Section of the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s Bulletin. 

Matt is also active in pro bono matters, serving on the firm’s Pro Bono Initiative Committee and as a Member of the Board of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County.
