David A. Picon is a Partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department and Deputy Chair of the Financial Services Group. He represents clients in the financial, securities and entertainment (with a focus on sports) industries in federal and state courts, arbitral tribunals and before regulatory authorities.
David has extensive trial experience, having participated in dozens of trials and arbitration hearings (including under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association, FINRA (formerly NASD and NYSE)), throughout the country. His trials and arbitrations have involved a wide range of issues, including complex securities-related matters and contract and employment-related disputes. He also regularly represents financial services firms in investigations brought by the SEC and other regulatory authorities.
Chambers USA has ranked David and the partners in Proskauer’s Litigation Department as being a team to turn to for trial work stating that “unlike others in the market, Proskauer is out there fighting for clients in court.”
David is a frequent panelist for other high-profile organizations on topics focused on the financial services industry. He is a co-author of the section entitled “Broker-Dealer Litigation and Arbitration” in the multi-volume treatise, Commercial Litigation in New York State Courts. David also was invited to address Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association members about employment law issues at the organization's annual meeting and has presented on the subject of Professional Ethics at the New York City Bar.
