Daniel P. Finkelman is a Partner in the Corporate Department and a member of the Private Investment Funds Group. His practice is concentrated in the representation of buyout funds, venture capital funds, corporate-sponsored funds, offshore and multinational funds, institutional investors and placement agents.

Dan’s principal activities on behalf of funds include fund organization and maintenance, investments, and sales and distributions. He has represented funds ranging in size from under $20 million to over $2 billion, in raising over $35 billion of committed capital. Dan’s fund clients include Abingworth Bioventures, Apple Tree Partners, Argosy Investment Partners, CMEA Capital, Columbia Capital, Conduit Capital, DN Capital, HealthCare Ventures, Mission Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Oxford Bioscience Partners, Spectrum Equity Investors, Thomas McNerney & Partners, and Updata Venture Partners, among many others. He also has represented companies such as Boston Scientific, Comcast and NEC in forming their investment funds. In addition, Dan represents placement agents and other industry representatives, including BerchWood Partners.

Dan has served as an expert witness in private equity-related litigation, arbitration, and mediation proceedings and as a legal advisor to the Private Equity Industry Guidance Group.  He has received numerous accolades for his work and frequently writes and lectures on topics of interest to the private equity industry.
