Daniel J. Bernstein is a Senior Counsel in the Patent Law and Intellectual Property Groups.
Daniel's practice focuses on the licensing and transfer of intellectual property rights for growth-oriented companies primarily in the high technology and biotechnology industries. He counsels technology companies and their investors on issues relating to the protection and enhancement of intellectual property, and has substantial experience with such clients in structuring product development and distribution agreements, collaborative research arrangements, cross-licensing agreements, strategic partnerships and joint ventures.
Daniel has counseled clients and negotiated alliances in diverse industry sectors, including computer hardware, software, semiconductors, networking, biotechnology, medical devices, and financial services. He also counsels clients on the license and transfer of intellectual property rights in the context of acquisitions and divestitures, and on due diligence issues arising in connection with such transactions.
In addition, Daniel has substantial experience in the resolution of intellectual property disputes, and has negotiated numerous agreements involving the cross-license of patents and other intellectual property rights as part of the overall settlement of contested claims.
Before reentering private practice, he was a Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Digital Equipment Corporation.
