As Chief Operating Officer at Proskauer, Art works closely with senior firm management in setting strategy while concurrently overseeing the firm's worldwide operations.
Art was the Executive Director of both Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and Dewey Ballantine LLP in New York, and the Chief Financial Officer of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. He was the head of the International Executive Directors Forum, an organization of executive directors from major law firms throughout the world and is on the Board of the Educational Alliance. Prior to entering the legal community, he was the Vice President of Finance and Administration of Newsweek International, during which time he and his family lived in Tokyo, Japan for three years.
Art, who has an MBA and a CPA, is the author of The Chief Operating Officer: Managing A Law Firm in Challenging Times, a book discussing the responsibilities and challenges of the Chief Operating Officer role, published by Thomson Reuters.
Art has a deep interest in civic and philanthropic issues and is the founder of Art of Men, a not for profit organization of men and women utilizing their skills, expertise and wisdom to make a significant and lasting impact in the communities in which they live and work.
