Alec Smith is an associate in the Corporate Department and a member of the Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups. He has experience representing private equity funds, portfolio companies and strategic investors in connection with a wide range of transactional matters.
He earned a J.D. from Columbia Law School. While at Columbia, he was a member of the Columbia Business Law Review, which published his note Advisers, Brokers, and Online Platforms: How a Uniform Fiduciary Duty Will Better Serve Investors. He also worked as a legal intern for the New York Legal Assistance Group, a legal services not for profit.
Prior to law school, Alec graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science.
