Our nationally renowned employee benefits litigation practice handles cutting-edge litigation and counseling in cases involving denial of benefits, breach of fiduciary duty and other issues involving ERISA. We advise employers on day-to-day human resources issues such as hiring practices, discipline, reductions in force and other terminations, wage and hour issues, compliance audits, immigration issues, accommodations and employee complaints. We also counsel employers on steps to take in order to avoid costly litigation and government investigations.
Newark is home to Proskauer’s highly regarded immigration and nationality practice, which assists companies across the country in obtaining the work authorizations and visas necessary to hire foreign nationals or transfer executives between countries, and defends employers against claimed immigration violations. Our immigration capabilities include pro bono asylum work, including The List Project, which resettles Iraqi refugees who are at risk because they have assisted U.S. forces.
