Thomas Sjoblom, Dietrich Snell Host Panels in New York City and Live on the Internet
January 15, 2008 (New York, NY) - Thomas Sjoblom and Dietrich Snell, partners at Proskauer Rose LLP, an international law firm with more than 750 lawyers worldwide, will join a number of other noted lawyers to host seminars at the Practising Law Institute's "Parallel Proceedings in Securities Cases" program on January 16 in New York City. The event can also be accessed live via the Internet.
Mr. Sjoblom, who spent nearly 20 years at the Securities and Exchange Commission, is a trial lawyer who represents financial institutions, mutual funds, professionals, and officers and directors of public companies through all stages of civil and criminal investigations by federal and state regulatory agencies and self-regulatory organizations. He will begin the program with an "Introduction to Parallel Proceedings," followed by his participation as a panelist on "Initial Responses to Multiple Proceedings."
Mr. Snell is the former New York Deputy Attorney General responsible for the investigation, litigation and regulatory activities performed by the Division of Public Advocacy under former New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. He handles criminal and civil enforcement and regulatory matters pertaining to the financial services, corporate, environmental, non-profit, and public sectors and will participate as a panelist on "DOJ and State Criminal Proceedings."

- Resolving the challenges involved in litigating parallel civil and criminal law enforcement proceedings
- Successfully managing simultaneous investigations by the SEC, CFTC, DOJ and other regulators
- Learning the strategies necessary to deal with SEC receivers who represent multiple government agencies

- Learning how to negotiate a global settlement with multiple regulators
