CHRISTOPHER WOLF OF PROSKAUER ROSE WINS 2005 BURTON AWARD FOR LEGAL ACHIEVEMENT

May 2, 2005 (New York, NY) -- Proskauer Rose LLP, an international law firm with over 625 lawyers in the U.S. and Europe, announced that Christopher Wolf, a partner in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Burton Award for Legal Achievement. He was given the award in recognition of his article, "Regulating Hate Speech Qua Speech Is Not The Solution To The Epidemic of Hate On The Internet," which appeared in two parts in the August and September 2004 editions of Metropolitan Corporate Counsel.

The annual awards honor 30 of the nation's finest legal writers based on submissions from the top 600 law firms in the country. This year's recipients will be honored at an awards dinner to be held in the Great Hall of the Library of Congress on June 6, 2005. Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews," will be the guest speaker.

"Chris is one of the country's top Internet lawyers and an eloquent writer. We congratulate him as a deserving recipient of this esteemed award," said Allen Fagin, Chairman of Proskauer Rose.

Mr. Wolf's award-winning submission addressed the misuse of the Internet by terrorist and hate groups in the context of the First Amendment. Mr. Wolf represented the Anti-Defamation League in a 2004 international conference on Internet hate in Paris sponsored by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), where he presented a paper from which the award-winning article was adapted. He has spoken on the subject of Internet hate at programs around the world, including in Sweden and Israel.

A pioneer in Internet law (and an adjunct Professor of Law on the subject), Mr. Wolf was involved in the earliest matters regarding the Internet including copyright infringement on the Internet, jurisdictional issues and the limits to online and email marketing. As the Internet matured and personal privacy became an issue, he was also among the first to be involved in the new field of privacy and data security law, currently a large part of his practice.

Established by William C. Burton, the Burton Awards are dedicated primarily to the refinement and enrichment of legal writing and honors partners and law students who write clearly, concisely and precisely. Now in its sixth year, the awards are run in association with the Library of Congress Law Library, and are sponsored primarily by LexisNexis. The submissions are nominated by managing partners of law firms and law school deans. The entries include articles published over the past year.

The entries are judged by an academic board led by Virginia Wise, a renowned teacher at Harvard Law School, Anne E. Kringel, a widely acknowledged expert in legal writing at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Grace Tonner, a prominent professor from the University of Michigan Law School, Ed Forstenzer, a distinguished judge from California's Superior Court, and William Ryan, a direct descendent of Noah Webster.
