May 21, 2012 (New York) – Proskauer announced today that Ralph C. Ferrara, one of the nation’s foremost securities and corporate governance lawyers, will join the firm together with his highly regarded colleagues, Partners Ann M. Ashton, Jonathan E. Richman and Tanya J. Dmitronow. All come from Dewey & LeBoeuf, where Mr. Ferrara was the firm’s Vice Chair, and Mr. Richman and Ms. Ashton served as co-heads of its Securities, M&A and Corporate Governance Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Ferrara and Ms. Ashton join the firm’s Washington, DC office, and Mr. Richman and Ms. Dmitronow join its New York office.

Mr. Ferrara and his team have been involved in many high-profile securities, M&A and corporate governance litigation matters in recent years, including Royal Dutch/Shell, Global Crossing, Zurich Financial Services, New York Life Insurance and Waste Management. Mr. Ferrara is a former General Counsel of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and, in that capacity, argued five cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, including: Harry G. Burks, et al. v. Howard M. Lasker and Irving Goldberg; Transamerica Mortgage Advisors, Inc., et al. v. Harry Lewis; and Aaron v. Securities and Exchange Commission. During his career with the SEC, Mr. Ferrara was appointed as Chief of Staff or Special Counsel to three commission Chairmen.

"Ralph and our other new partners enjoy a national reputation in securities litigation and enforcement," said Proskauer Chairman Joseph M. Leccese. "They are a terrific group of lawyers whose practices align with our strategic priorities, and we are delighted to welcome them to our firm."

"Ralph’s team is one of the best in the business," said Robert J. Cleary and Brendan J. O’Rourke, co-Chairs of Proskauer’s Litigation Department. "We are extremely fortunate to have this group join us, as they add tremendous depth and breadth to our securities practice and enhance our ability to provide clients with best-in-class service."

"We see in Proskauer an enormous opportunity to take our practice to the next level, and we are excited to join with our new colleagues to build on the firm’s established securities litigation and enforcement strengths, while adding new capabilities that enhance Proskauer’s reputation as the go-to firm in this space," said Mr. Ferrara.
