Proskauer Adds Labor & Employment Litigator Laura Reathaford as Special Counsel in Los Angeles
May 8, 2012 (Los Angeles) – Following the recent addition of former Seyfarth Shaw California Labor and Employment Practice Chair Ken Sulzer, Proskauer announced that Laura Reathaford has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as Special Counsel in the Labor & Employment Law Department and a member of its national Class/Collective Action and California Labor & Employment Law Groups. Reathaford formerly practiced in the Wage and Hour Litigation Practice Group at Seyfarth Shaw and led the practice group meetings for its California Class Action Group.
“With so many new developments in the wage and hour area and even more changes on the horizon, we are very happy to welcome Laura to Proskauer,” said Anthony Oncidi, Partner and co-head of the California Labor & Employment Law Group. “By having both Ken and Laura on board, we continue to strengthen our Los Angeles employment practice and, in particular, our class action capabilities.”
Reathaford brings more than 12 years of experience handling class action litigation, as well as individual and multi-plaintiff actions, up to and including trial. Recently, she was first chair in an individual bench trial related to California’s Private Attorney General Act of 2004 where she obtained a defense verdict. She also defended Ernst & Young and obtained a complete dismissal of nationwide class claims at the pleading stage. She has extensive experience litigating matters concerning the California Family Rights Act, Fair Employment and Housing Commission and California Labor Code in both federal and state courts.
Proskauer’s Labor & Employment Law Department is one of the strongest practices in the world, with over 150 lawyers across the globe.
