Deepens Firm’s Intellectual Property Capabilities, Continues Growth of Litigation Practice
June 7, 2010 (Boston, MA) - Experienced patent litigator Justin J. Daniels has joined Proskauer’s Boston office as Senior Counsel, strengthening the firm’s intellectual property capabilities and continuing the growth of its litigation practice.
“Demand for our patent and general litigation work has continued to grow significantly, even in these tough economic times, and Justin’s addition will allow us to capitalize on new opportunities for the firm and on behalf of our clients,” said Steven M. Bauer, head of Proskauer’s litigation practice in Boston and co-head of the firm’s Patent Law Group. “His impressive experience in patent and complex litigation, including intellectual property, antitrust, white collar and general commercial matters, enhances our existing capabilities and allows us to continue to grow our practice – both in Boston and across the firm.”
Prior to joining Proskauer, Mr. Daniels was Counsel in the Intellectual Property and Technology Group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. A registered patent attorney, his extensive litigation experience has included successfully representing clients in the software, entertainment, media, finance, and pharmaceutical industries. Earlier in his career, he served as a law clerk to Judge Richard Owen, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, as well as Marshal to a High Court Justice of the English Crown Court, Queen’s Bench Division in the United Kingdom, where he oversaw numerous intellectual property disputes and mediations. A graduate of Harvard College, he earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Described by Chambers USA as “a force to be reckoned with,” Proskauer’s Patent Law Group represents clients with every patent need, from litigation and dispute resolution to patent applications and contested patent office proceedings to transactions and strategic counseling, helping clients to maximize revenue and improve market position and shareholder value. The intellectual property practice is a core component of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department, which has been described by Chambers USA as a “premier litigation group populated by fantastic trial attorneys.” The department represents defendants and plaintiffs, multinationals, middle market and small-cap businesses, financial institutions, partnerships and individuals across a wide range of commercial areas.
Mr. Daniels is the most recent addition to Proskauer’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department, which includes more than 220 lawyers. The Boston office recently welcomed Daniel Winslow, a former trial court judge and Chief Legal Counsel to Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Scott Brown’s U.S. Senate campaign, as Senior Counsel in Boston, and Charles Mokriski, a leading lawyer specializing in legal ethics and law firm practice issues.
In addition to its litigation practice, Proskauer’s Boston office is home to one of the world’s leading private investment funds practices, highly regarded corporate finance and transactional groups, and a preeminent labor and employment practice.
