Five Proskauer Labor & Employment Law Lawyers Named to New Jersey Super Lawyers 2012

Newark Associate Alychia L. Buchan Selected as a New Jersey Rising Star

April 2, 2012 (Newark, NJ) – Five Newark-based lawyers in the Proskauer Labor & Employment Law Department were recognized as New Jersey Super Lawyers in 2012, an exclusive list of the top 5 percent of the state’s legal practitioners. The five lawyers are: 

  • Lawrence Sandak – head of Proskauer’s Newark office who also serves as co-head of the firm’s Law Firm Practice Group. With more than 30 years of employment law experience, he advises clients on all aspects of the employer-employee relationship. As a trial lawyer and litigator, Mr. Sandak defends employers accused of discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, breach of contract and wage and hour violations.
  • John Barry – a Partner in the Labor & Employment Department and co-head of the firm’s Non-Compete & Trade Secrets Group, which counsels clients on employee movement between competitors, with emphasis on the meaning, enforceability and drafting of various types of restrictive covenants. In addition, he represents management in a wide range of employment and labor law matters in both New Jersey and New York across several key industries, including: retail, financial services, pharmaceutical, higher education, technology and wireless communications.
  • Marvin Goldstein – a Partner in the firm’s Labor-Management Relations Group, representing clients in all aspects of labor and employee relations law. He has a nationwide employment litigation practice where he represents employers in both state and federal courts. In addition, Mr. Goldstein represents employers in employment arbitration, labor arbitration and before administrative boards such as the National Labor Relations Board and various civil rights agencies.
  • David Grunblatt – a Partner and head of the firm’s Immigration & Nationality Group who has extensive experience counseling clients regarding all types of immigration law issues and guiding corporations as to their policies and programs to facilitate hiring and transferring of foreign nationals and international personnel, using the full array of non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories.
  • Jeremy Brown – a Senior Counsel who represents and counsels employers on a broad spectrum of labor and employment matters, with a particular interest in complex employment discrimination litigation and high-profile class actions involving allegations of gender discrimination in compensation and promotion. In addition, Mr. Brown has extensive experience in traditional labor relations law matters, counseling extensively on union organizing issues, strike preparation and strategy, election campaigns and day-to-day contract administration issues.

For the second year in a row, Newark Associate Alychia L. Buchan was named to New Jersey Rising Stars, an exclusive list compiled by Super Lawyers of the region’s top lawyers under 40.

Nominations for New Jersey Super Lawyers are submitted by those with first-hand knowledge of the top lawyers within the state.
