Proskauer Lawyers Named to Lawdragon 500 "Leading Lawyers in America" List
Leccese, Ganz and Cleary Recognized
January 11, 2012 (New York, NY) – Joseph M. Leccese, Howard L. Ganz and Robert J. Cleary of Proskauer have been recognized among their peers as the top lawyers of 2011 in the Lawdragon 500, an annual guide to the best in the legal profession.
Mr. Leccese, Chairman of Proskauer and co-head of its Sports Law Group, has a broad-based corporate practice with particular emphasis on the representation of professional sports leagues, teams and owners; college conferences; and financial institutions that provide capital to the broad array of transactions that occur in the sports industry. His experience in this area includes numerous matters for the National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, PAC-12 Conference, ATP Tour and WTA Tour, as well as for a number of individual sports teams, owners and sports-related entities.
Mr. Ganz is also co-head of the firm’s Sports Law Group and immediate past co-Chair of its Labor & Employment Law Department. He has served as a principal outside labor counsel for the NBA and Major League Baseball, and also counsels clients on a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, defamation, breach of contract, discipline, and large-scale reductions-in-force. His litigation experience has run the gamut, from single plaintiff lawsuits to major class actions, in federal and state courts in New York and elsewhere.
Mr. Cleary is co-Chair of Proskauer’s Litigation Department and head of the firm’s Corporate Defense & Investigations Group. He concentrates his practice on white collar criminal defense, SEC and related enforcement matters, securities litigation, antitrust litigation, complex civil litigation, tax controversies, and internal investigations. He also has extensive experience in international criminal matters and foreign extradition proceedings. He was previously a federal prosecutor, including service as the U.S. Attorney in New Jersey and Southern Illinois, and served as the lead prosecutor in the Unabomber case, United States v. Theodore J. Kaczynski.
